Printmaking

Thank the Chinese for developing the print, specifically the woodcut. During the 15th Century, the Western world used prints mainly as playing cards. Printmakers have been a part of every art movement! Some famous printmakers include Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt, William Blake, Marc Chagall and Picasso.

The printmaking studio comes equipped with just about everything one needs in order to make and produce professional-quality prints. We have a Whelan press as well as a Conrad press. There are other general printmaking furniture (drying rack, acid bath, water bath, inking table, paper station and various working spaces) around the studio. Additionally, our Vandercook Universal I letterpress has its own little corner, including a vast selection of type.

For more information on studio rental and/or classes, contact the office and someone will be happy to speak with you.
